Film, TV, and media charters

Man filming on Charter vessel for TV and media production with Secret Atlas

Film in locations that don’t do B-roll.

We help film, TV, and media companies get the shots they need in the world’s remotest, most unique environments.

The most photogenic destinations on the planet are often the most challenging to work in and capture on film. But these lands are our stomping grounds. So we’ve become the go-to industry choice for crews looking to capture the world at its wildest.

On our film, TV, and media yacht charters, we take documentary crews, science organisations, and more deep into the polar regions, bringing their storyboard ideas to life. Lean on us for in-field tips of lesser-spotted bird cliffs, calving glaciers, and whale hotspots. As seasoned expedition organisers, we’re here for all your logistical needs, from permits to routes and regs.

Where can you go on a film, TV, and media charter?

Simply put, we go wherever our clients need us to go.

At Secret Atlas, we’re hardened by adventure in the remotest destinations on Earth: the polar regions. These are the environments we love to explore and the lands we help crews capture in unforgettable footage.

Wherever your inspiration takes you, that’s where we’ll go.

Destinations

Blood covered polar bear Svalbard JonasBeyer Secret Atlas

Shoot the snow-blanketed landscape waking from its wintery slumber in the early season. Capture one-in-a-million footage of the archipelago’s famous wildlife under summertime’s magical midnight sun.

Bear islands Greenland Iceberg and Landscape Raphaël Sané-Secret Atlas

Greenland is on a scale that defies the belief of anyone with a camera in-hand. How do you capture the largest island on Earth, its fairytale fjords, its skyscraper-sized icebergs, in the frame? How do you film the fleeting, otherworldly northern lights? The ultimate challenge gives the ultimate reward.

Two Gentoo penguins kissing

Set course for South Georgia and film the resident wildlife of one of the most ecologically varied and abundant places on the planet. The natural spectacle here is a documentarian’s dream, from 100,000-strong king penguin colonies to gargantuan elephant seals and majestic whales. The island’s mountainous scenery frames it all sublimely.

Zodiac Pleneau Island Antarctica 2024 Jean Paul delaharpe Secret Atlas

The White Continent at the end of the Earth. The least documented place on the planet. Home to great colonies of penguins, a resurgent whale population, and absolutely no humans. Filming here is a privilege – and a challenge. We have the logistical know-how and the local knowledge to bring your project to life.

What we do

We have a fleet of ice-strengthened, go-anywhere expedition yachts to choose from. They are strong and agile, getting camera crews through the ice to the remotest reaches, where less contrived wildlife encounters and untouched landscapes await. They are small and nimble but boast ample room for gear storage. They come fully crewed, too.

Choosing the right ship for you

If there is a different kind of vessel you are looking for, we can source and select the ship that suits your project best.

We have the experience

Our decades of collaborative expedition-planning experience mean we know the logistical considerations when filming in some of the toughest environments on Earth. We will help with all the dos and don’ts, rules and regs, permits and pathways, letting you get on with what you do best.

When it comes to local knowledge, we have assembled a formidable network of expedition leaders, local guides, and subject matter specialists who can assist you during the planning stage and accompany you during the filming expedition. We know the right people to pick for a successful operation.
