The private yacht charter experience
This is the ultimate adventure. A true expedition to the polar regions, completely tailored to your personal tastes and must-sees.
Tell us where you want to go, when you want to travel, and what you want to experience, and we’ll work with you to create a life-changing expedition. We’ll lend you our expertise – gained across hundreds of polar expeditions – along with a ship, crew, and guiding team.
We love collaborating with our private yacht charter guests. But if you want to leave it to the experts, that’s OK, too. Just choose your 'crew' of family, friends, and colleagues, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Why Secret Atlas?
There's a certain spirit that yearns to venture where few have gone, to feel the wilder side of life, and embrace the unknown.
We are guided by that spirit.
We help others discover a world much bigger than the ones they encounter day-to-day, then explore it the way it deserves to be explored – with appreciation, time, and in harmony with nature.
Private yacht charters FAQs
How do I charter a yacht to the Arctic or Antarctic?
It’s easy. Just get in touch with us about your idea – where you want to go, who you want to go with, what you want to do – and we’ll work with you to make your dream a reality. If you’re in need of inspiration, let our polar travel specialists plot an experience for you.
Are private yacht charters all-inclusive?
Yes, our private yacht charters are offered on an all-inclusive basis. All meals are included on Secret Atlas private yacht charters, freshly cooked each day by our superb chefs. Safety equipment, fuel, guides, and crew are all included in the price.
Additional fees for activities such as museum visits are not included. Nor are tips for the crew or flights to and from your embarkation/disembarkation point.
What type of yacht is suitable for an Arctic or Antarctic expedition?
Our fleet of ice-breaking expedition-style ships are perfect for polar adventures. They can go deep into the pack ice of Svalbard, to the remotest beaches of South Georgia, and right up to the glacier walls of Antarctica.
They are agile, go-anywhere ships designed for ultimate safety in the remotest environments on Earth.
What activities can I do on a private yacht charter to the Arctic/Antarctic?
Hiking, skiing, diving, kayaking. You name it. If there’s a specific area you want to visit – or a specific animal you want to see – we can tailor whole days (or even whole trips) to help you achieve your goal.
We can also arrange for specialist guides (geologists, ornithologists, biologists) to join you and present in-depth lectures on topics that mean the most to you, or photographers, drone specialists, skiers, and divers to accompany you and guide you in your pursuits.
Are there restrictions for visiting the Arctic or Antarctic by private yacht?
We proudly follow the rules laid out by AECO and IAATO, the industry regulators in the Arctic and Antarctica. This is for environmental and safety reasons. For us, it’s common sense.
Some locations have restrictions or require permits – but we take care of all this for you.
When is the best time to visit the Arctic or Antarctic?
That depends on what you want to see and do.
As it passes through spring, summer, and autumn, the Arctic journeys through frozen landscapes, endless daylight, and stunning sunsets in every shade imaginable. As darkness returns in winter, the skies come alive with the magic of the northern lights.
In Antarctica, our expeditions start in October, when penguins start their courting rituals, and run until February, when the resulting penguin chicks are born.
To learn more about the seasons in the remote places we explore, take a look at our Explorer’s Handbook articles covering the topic, including the best times to visit Svalbard, Greenland, Antarctica, and South Georgia.
How long is a private charter?
A private yacht charter will typically last between eight and 12 days, although we can plan longer trips if you wish.
How many people can go on a private charter?
You can arrange a private yacht charter with between 12 and 48 guests.
