Style
Anne’s guiding style is centred around her vast knowledge about natural science and what the landscape can tell in terms of past climate, the cryosphere, and geology.
“What I like about Secret Atlas is the small size of the ships. I get to know the guests on a completely different level than on a bigger ship. We can spend the whole day out if we like and personalise the trip.”

Questions & Answers
My most transformative travel experience
There are so many memorable travel experiences… Managing a camp in the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica for three months with one seismologist, and drilling into the ice sheet to set off explosives; or crossing Svalbard on skis with two weeks of the most horrible storms I have ever experienced on the island; or winter climbing and skiing mountain peaks on Adelaide island during the Antarctic winter.
My exploration inspiration
I always found the early alpine mountaineers most inspirational. People like Maurice Herzog, George Mallory, and Gaston Rebuffat. I enjoy stories like the early attempts on the north face of the Eiger and the first attempts to conquer the highest peaks of the Himalayas.
My dream adventure
I would still like to climb an 8000m peak, but at the moment we have easier adventures lined up with the kids, such as crossing the Sarek National Park in Swedish Lapland on skis and hiking above the polar circle.
