“I like being in the Arctic as it is my second home. I've spent many years on Franz Josef Land and on Svalbard. I believe the Arctic is one of the few places on our planet where you can feel the real power of nature.”

Questions & Answers

My most transformative travel experience

A 140-NM trip around the islands of Franz Josef Land, with five colleagues in just one Zodiac, when we were trying to get to an island to see our friend who was there with an archaeological expedition. A lot of new places, the spirit of adventure, and no weather forecast.

My exploration inspiration

Fridtjof Nansen. Definitely one of the most extraordinary explorers, who also had a great personality.

My dream adventure

“Adventure is just bad planning,” as Roald Amundsen once said. So no adventures, only expeditions.
